Sushma Singhvi Profile & CV

Background:

Since her younger days, she has harbored a robust aspiration to establish a platform for underprivileged children, enabling them to cultivate and lead lives of dignity and productivity. While elitists might turn up for charity balls/events to show their support, the best among us treat these backward communities with disrespect and disdain. All of us are blessed with talents by the almighty, but unfortunately, in the absence of the right environment, our potential never comes to the fore. Notwithstanding their background, these children should not become victims of lack of opportunities and thereby unable to showcase their abilities. Her conviction rests on the belief that every child is born equal and should be granted identical prospects for accomplishment when nurtured in the appropriate milieu.

The pivotal juncture in her life materialized upon the inception of the Gunjan Foundation in 2004—an institution dedicated to uplifting underprivileged children. Bolstered by her family's backing, deliberate strides were taken towards her objectives. Among her aspirations was the establishment of a model institution for disadvantaged children, and this aspiration metamorphosed into reality with the magnanimous provision of land and edifice on lease for the "Swapna Sarthak School" by the DLF Foundation in 2010. Presently, the Gunjan Foundation extends scholarships to 500 students, facilitating scholastic and higher education, as well as skill enhancement in Delhi & PAN India. The organization's outreach has extended by opening chapter in Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

"A woman encompasses the full circle, wielding the power to create, nurture, and transmute." Embarking on a gradual and measured trajectory, her breakthrough arrived with the orchestration of seminars centered on "Mind Pollution," delving into society's mindset toward the underprivileged—an endeavor that resonated triumphantly. "Should one labor with fervor and relish the pursuit, the solutions to life shall unveil themselves," she articulates.

Have a strong belief system instilled by her father “dream big and you will achieve your dreams through hard work’. So don’t let hurdles dishearten and successes spoil.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Foundation has witnessed extraordinary transformations in the lives of its beneficiaries over the past two decades. Gunjan Foundation has positively impacted over 2,300 individuals by providing quality education through schools, higher education, and skill development initiatives. Supporting children in schools and colleges across Delhi-NCR and Pan-India, the Foundation offers scholarships for higher education in diverse fields, including engineering (IIT), medicine (MBBS), postgraduate, and undergraduate programs. This support enables students to achieve their goals, secure meaningful employment, and uplift their families' future. With a strong commitment to women’s empowerment, the Foundation has introduced various skill development programs, fostering independence and self-reliance among its participants. Expanding its reach, Gunjan Foundation has recently inaugurated two new chapters in Jaipur and Ahmedabad, furthering its mission of creating a brighter and more inclusive future.

Mind Pollution Awareness Initiatives:

Beyond education, Gunjan Foundation has championed environmental and social consciousness. In 2005, the Foundation hosted a groundbreaking daylong symposium in Delhi on the topic of "Mind Pollution," a critical issue affecting present and future generations. The event featured renowned speakers, including Dr. Karan Singh, the late Shri Vishnu Kant Shastri, Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and Shovana Narayan, and received widespread acclaim. The success of the inaugural symposium led to another larger event, graced by prominent figures like Mrs. Sushma Seth, Ms. Nalini Singh, and Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, drawing significant media attention.

Publication of 'Exploring Mind Pollution:

Inspired by the impact of its seminars, Gunjan Foundation published the book Exploring Mind Pollution in 2010, which was released by renowned lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar. This collaborative work features contributions from distinguished national and international figures, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr. Karan Singh, Shovana Narayan, Dr. L.M.
